LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors…” (1 Peter 2:13-14, the Holy Bible).

FILIPINOS STILL SLAVES OF FOREIGNERS IN 2015: Again and again, every June 12th of every year, I am constrained to ask one question: is there a reason to celebrate the so-called Philippine independence from foreign domination? The answer is clear. Even at this point, the Philippines and Filipinos remain in the stranglehold of foreigners, making all of us slaves and errand boys and girls of other countries.

MUST FILIPINOS PERSIST IN REBELLION? In response to the Independence Day speech of President Aquino on June 12, 2015, where he urged Filipinos to pursue being rebels in the tradition of those who rebelled against Spanish authorities at the start of the 19th century, I would like to confront him with some Bible verses which talk about rebel leaders.
From Isaiah 1:23: “Your rulers are rebels, partners with thieves; they all love bribes and chase after gifts. They do not defend the cause of the fatherless; the widow’s case does not come before them.”
From Romans 13:1-2: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves…”

DANGERS OF REBELLING AGAINST AUTHORITIES: The Biblical admonition is clear and President Aquino having professed to be a Christian himself should know this admonition. He should also be aware of the dangers of refusing to obey what the Bible directs---which is suffering the wrath and curses of God (see Deuteronomy 28:15), which include poverty, dissension, and failure in every aspect of life.
Now, the question is: are Filipinos of today experiencing poverty, dissension and failure in the things that they do? The answer is clear, and I cannot believe that it is a mere coincidence that the Bible has warned of poverty, dissension, and failure, if a people no longer listens to God, and if they no longer obey His commands.
This is the reason why I have been advocating, for quite some time in this column now, that our people should now install a president who fears and loves God, sincerely, truthfully, and earnestly. A president who fears and loves God will not lie, will not cheat, and will not steal, and would surely lead all of us to victory and prosperity. Can we expect such a President in 2016?

FILIPINOS MUST ASK GOD’S HELP IN CHOOSING NEXT PRESIDENT: Many will say that there is no hope for a President who fears and loves God to be elected in 2016, considering the list of presidentiables who are now vying for the country’s top position next year. Indeed, many are thinking that it is going to be a “mission impossible” to elect a president whose agenda prioritizes God and His Word, the Bible.
But then, something is impossible only when humans do the thinking or acting. If Filipinos would now sincerely go back to God by reading His Bible and obeying His commands, He will surely make even the most impossible of things possible, even at the mere click of finger, for, indeed, nothing is impossible with God. Agree?
