Failure of Christianity among Filipinos

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship…” (Romans 12:1, the Holy Bible).

FAILURE OF CHRISTIANITY AMONG FILIPINOS: I am firmly convinced that there is now a widespread failure of spirituality and even of Christianity among us. Take note, I did not say there is a failure of Catholicism, or a failure of any other religion.

Religion has nothing to do with this. If Filipinos have virtually descended to the level of animals which neither care nor love others of their kind, it is because they have lost the required spirituality to keep their bestial and devilish instincts in check.

If we look around us today, most people no longer care about the welfare of others beyond their families and relatives. All they care about now are their, and their relatives’, self interests, desires, and their penchant for personal gratification and satisfaction, even if in achieving success along these lines would mean others being prejudiced, or hurt, or damaged.

FILIPINOS NO LONGER WITH GOD: This is the reason why we now see many people engaging in debilitating vices like gross alcohol and drug use and abuse, in public view yet, and why many could commit graft and corruption so easily, abuse their offices and the people working for them without any remorse or compunction, steal millions and millions of pesos in public funds, rape (even their own family members), kill, and injure, without even batting an eyelash.

Why are all of these happening? Why is there a failure of spirituality---and therefore, a failure of fear and love of God? Again, the reason is simple. Almost all Filipinos now no longer read the Bible, no longer listen to God, and no longer obey Him.

Since many are not reading the Bible anymore, many have grown up without God in their hearts. Without God in their hearts, guess who they grew up with. This leads many to ultimate destruction and second death in hell.

PRAYING AND READING THE BIBLE FOR THE DEAD: Here are two Biblical verses, both taken from 1 Peter of the Bible, which prove that dead people can still be the object of prayer and Scriptural readings, so that even if they died in sin, they could still have eternal life in God.

“For Christ… was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits---to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built…” (1 Peter 3:19).

“For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit…” (1Peter 4:6).
