AND KNK: Giving of tithes is lending to God

GIVING OF TITHES IS LENDING TO GOD: Did you know that giving of tithes and offerings to the church actually means lending to God, requiring Him to repay the tithe and offering-givers with His blessings, direction, and protection? Well, this is what the Anak ng Diyos Kadugo Ni Kristo (or AND KNK, or the Children of God Blood Kin of the Christ) Church teaches its members.

AND KNK believes that tithing and giving of various offerings on top of the mandatory tithe-giving is an act of acknowledging God’s sovereignty over all of us, and is a form of thanksgiving and praising Him for his blessings, guidance, and protection for all time.

Indeed, central to the idea of tithing is the idea that God owns everything (Exodus 19:5, Psalm 24:1, Psalm 50:10-12 and Hagai 2:8). We were all created by God and we owe to Him every single breath that we have (Genesis 1:26-27, Acts 17:28), so that everything that we are and we have, we actually first received from God (Job 1:21, John 3:27; 1 Corinthians 4:7).

AND KNK: TITHING IS A CONTRACT BETWEEN GOD AND MAN: AND KNK recognizes that tithing is a contract which man, through Jacob, the son of Isaac, offered to God in exchange for the food he will eat, the dress he will wear, and the guidance he is given (Genesis 28:20-22). Because it is a contract, man is under obligation to fulfill it.

In fact, it is not only tithes, or the tenth of every income one makes, whether through harvests from the land or the young of the calf, or herd, or of any other animal owned by man, but also offerings, that are required to be given to God.

In the Old Testament, particularly in the Book of Leviticus, man is directed to make other offerings to please God, such as burnt offerings (Leviticus 1 and 6:8-13), meat offerings (Leviticus 2 and 6:14-23), peace offerings (Leviticus 3 and 7:11-21), sin offerings (Leviticus 4:1-5 and 6:24-30), and the guilt or trespass offerings (Leviticus 5:14-16).

FINANCIAL REVERSES FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT GIVE TITHES: Tithing and offering-giving are two important obligations of believers, which must be complied with by them at all times. If people did not give their tithes and their offerings and greed prevented them from sharing their incomes and their produce, they were bound to suffer financial reverses (Hagai 1:3-6, Malachi 3:8-12).

Tithing is necessary to advance the kingdom of God, notably in allowing churches to accomplish their work, and to help in spreading the gospel throughout the world (1 Corinthians 9:4-14; Philippians 4:15-18; 1 Timothy 5:17-18). And through tithing, churches can help the poor and the needy, which is a form of lending to God (Proverbs 19:17, Galatians 2:10; 2 Corinthians 8:14).

But, when giving our tithes, we must give in proportion to our income. We could give more, but not less than the tenth of our income, for if we give less, we are considered as robbing God (Malachias 3:8-10). We should give tithes voluntarily and generously (Exodus 25:1-2) and cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7), even if we do not have much money (2 Corinthians 8:3).
