LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… maintain justice in the courts…” (Amos 5:15, the Holy Bible).

SERENO’S FINEST LEGACY: JUDICIARY CLEANSING: I am glad that even the Office of the President is encouraging Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to investigate published reports that some Court of Appeals justices are engaged in selling their decisions to highest bidders. Sereno may want to start by investigating the justice who had been branded as “justice for sale” by the Coalition of Filipino Consumers, and proceed from there.
If lawyers and litigants will see that the investigations by Sereno will spare no one in unmasking what then President Estrada called as “hoodlums in robes”, I am willing to bet many other whistleblowers may be enticed to come out with their own exposes, even of wrongdoings committed long ago, if any.
This may be the much-awaited time for judicial cleansing, and may yet be the finest legacy that the Sereno court can bequeath not only to the judiciary and the legal profession but to the entire nation as well which is sorely starving for true justice.

ARE CONGRESSMEN-ALLIES PNOY’S REAL FRIENDS? President Aquino must now earnestly assess those whom he consider as his political allies, and determine for himself if they really have his welfare in their hearts, particularly after he steps down from Malacanang in 2016.
I am saying this after watching, with dismay, how congressmen professing their friendship with, and loyalty to, Aquino, behaved during the April 07, 2015 hearing of the House of Representatives on the Mamasapano murders. If Aquino is thinking he scored a victory by the vote against his answering questions from congressmen about Mamasapano as proposed by the so-called Makabayan Block, he is deadly wrong.
With that vote, the whole Filipino nation will once again be in uproar against him because many will think that he and his congressmen-allies are merely shielding him from the fall-out from the Mamasapano killings, to enable him to escape liability. I am sure the next survey on his satisfaction and popularity ratings will confirm all the more the loss of the Filipino people’s confidence in him.

RP SENATORS COWED BY CHINA OVER SPRATLYS: My older cousin who is now based in Harbor City, California, USA, Boy Mauricio, posted this interesting thought in Facebook: “According to the news, four US senators wrote a letter to the US secretaries of State and Defense to denounce China for its invasive land reclamation activities within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Philippines.
“These US senators are four more than the total number of Philippine senators who have denounced China's invasion of Philippine territory. What the hell, not a single Philippine Senator has stood up on the Senate floor to condemn China's massive land reclamation of Philippine territories in the West Philippine Sea. Naduwag po ang magagaling at matatapang nating senador sa China!
“They are not swayed by the fact that, in a nationwide poll conducted by Social Weather Station, an overwhelming majority of Filipinos (93 percent) back government's efforts to defend the national territory against China! That's right folks, the only senators willing to criticize China for invading Philippine territory are in Washington DC…”
